What bat is legal for 14U USSSA?

14U USSSA, current rules: Use a BBCOR (-3) or wood bat: that's USSSA's national 14U rule. A -5 bat is allowed only at events in states that opted in.

Checked Oct 27, 2026. Confirm with your league before you buy: local leagues and tournaments can set their own rules, stricter or looser than the national ones. The rule in full and its sources.

Typical bat size for age 14

Bat makers' charts put most 14-year-olds at 31–32 in (Louisville Slugger, DeMarini, Rawlings). That's a guide, not a rule: height, weight and strength matter more, so see what size bat your kid needs. Your league's limits above always come first.

Parents ask

Can my player keep a 13U -8 bat at 14U?

No. Even in states that allow -5 bats at 14U, the limit is -5; the national standard is BBCOR (-3) or wood, and California's USSSA rules allow only BBCOR or wood. (USSSA by-laws 7.01.C, USSSA California)
