Diamond Youth bat rules (2026-27)
Which bats are legal in each Diamond Youth division, in plain words, with the source and the date we checked it. Pick your division for the full rule and the bats that fit.
Rules checked Oct 27, 2026. Confirm with your league before you buy: local leagues and tournaments can set their own rules, stricter or looser than the national ones.
Some of these rules are still being confirmed (6U and 8U, AAA, Majors and O-Zone): each division page says why.
| Division | Ages | Bats allowed | Drop limit | Longest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6U and 8U | 8 and under | USABat (USA Baseball mark); BBCOR .50 (-3); one-piece solid wood | None for USA Baseball bats; BBCOR bats -3 | 33 in |
| AAA, Majors and O-Zone | 12 and under | USABat (USA Baseball mark); BBCOR .50 (-3); one-piece solid wood | None for USA Baseball bats; BBCOR bats -3 | 33 in |
Parents ask
Are USSSA bats allowed in Diamond Youth (Dixie Youth)?
No: all BPF 1.15 bats are illegal in every division. Bats need the USA Baseball mark, or be -3 BBCOR or one-piece wood, no longer than 33 in. (2026 Diamond Youth rulebook)
Can a tee ball bat be used?
Not in AAA, Majors or O-Zone. In 6U and 8U, tee ball bats are only for use with low-compression balls, and a trade association reports that from 2027 they won't be allowed in 6U and 8U tournament play. (2026 Diamond Youth rulebook)
