Parents ask
Can a high school BBCOR bat be used in college?
Through the 2028 season, yes: BBCOR .50 bats are allowed in the 2027 and 2028 seasons. From January 1, 2029, only USA BBCOR bats are approved. (USA Baseball)
The rule in full
2026 and 2027 seasons
| Bats allowed | BBCOR .50 |
|---|---|
| Drop limit | -3 (part of the BBCOR standard) |
| Barrel, largest | 2 5/8 in (part of the BBCOR standard) |
| Length, longest | 36 in (part of the BBCOR standard) |
NCAA's BBCOR standard requires the BBCOR .50 mark and a -3 drop, and its 2027-28 rule changes leave bats alone apart from allowing bat sensors. The 2 5/8 in barrel and 36 in length come from USA Baseball, which now runs the BBCOR standard.
