Cal Ripken 12U (Major/60 and Major/70), current rules: Use a bat with the USA Baseball mark (or a one-piece wood bat) with a barrel no wider than 2 5/8 in. Any drop is fine. BBCOR and USSSA bats aren't allowed.

Checked Oct 27, 2026. Confirm with your league before you buy: local leagues and tournaments can set their own rules, stricter or looser than the national ones. The rule in full and its sources.

Typical bat size for ages 11 to 12

Bat makers' charts put most players aged 11 to 12 at 30–31 in (Louisville Slugger, DeMarini, Rawlings) and suggest a -10 or -8 drop (Louisville Slugger, DeMarini). That's a guide, not a rule: height, weight and strength matter more, so see what size bat your kid needs. Your league's limits above always come first.
